Companionship

Milestone Senior Services’ Companionship program matches volunteers with older adults living at home to provide ongoing socialization and interaction. Many older adults living at home are socially isolated which can lead to both physical and mental health issues. A simple visit or phone call can go a long way toward brightening someone’s day.

Companionship connections may be made in person, by phone, or a combination of the two. Our Companionship program provides peer support, friendship, and socialization for older adults. Because the program creates one-on-one connections, a sincere bond is often created between the volunteer and the client. These types of connections provide a meaningful difference in the quality of life of an older adult who is experiencing isolation or depression.

All volunteers undergo thorough background checks to ensure the safety of our clients.

Senior Companion

AmeriCorps Senior Companion operates the same as our general Companionship program, however volunteers in this program must be 55 years or age or older. Additional benefits are realized by matching older adults with companions who are closer to them in age and who they may feel a stronger connection to.

AmeriCorps Senior Companion volunteers who income-qualify may receive a stipend for their volunteer service.
