AmeriCorps Senior Companion Program Celebrating 50 Years
This year, AmeriCorps Seniors is celebrating its 50th year of sponsoring the Senior Companion Program. Milestone Senior Services has been a proud provider of this program since 1989.
The Senior Companion Program matches volunteers age 55 and older with older adults who are in need of social interaction. These types of connections provide a meaningful difference in the quality of life of an older adult who is experiencing isolation or depression. This program is available to seniors living at home in the community as well as those residing in a nursing facility.
The Senior Companion Program establishes ongoing one-on-one relationships which often grow into meaningful friendships for both the clients and the volunteers. The Senior Companion Program connects people with in-person visits, phone visits, or a combination of both.
Milestone is the grantee of this AmeriCorps Seniors program in Kalamazoo and Calhoun counties. Whether you are interested in volunteering as a companion, or receiving companionship services, you can learn more about the Senior Companion program on the Companionship page of our website, or contact us at (269) 382-0515
