Milestone Senior Services is excited to embark on a new service in the community by providing meals for the newly-opened Landing Place. The Landing Place, located on East Kilgore Service Road in Kalamazoo was formerly a hotel and has been converted to a short-term transitional housing facility for families.
The Landing Place has been created through a partnership between Kalamazoo County and Family Promise of Southwest Michigan to provide safe, temporary housing for families while they seek permanent housing. With more than 77 units, the Landing Place is the largest transitional family center in Michigan.
Because of Milestone’s long-term relationship with Kalamazoo County of providing home delivered meals and congregate meals for seniors, we are a natural fit for partnering in this initiative. Milestone will be providing food in a “family style” manner to The Landing Place which will serve their residents from its own kitchen facility. Milestone CEO, Richard Kine, said, “We are excited to expand the use of our commercial kitchen facilities to contribute to this important new endeavor in our community.”
