Milestone’s Home Repair & Accessibility department is offering a new service which is a bathtub-to-shower conversion. For many older people and people with limited mobility, stepping over the wall of their bathtub can be difficult and dangerous. 80% of falls that occur in the home, happen in the bathroom, some of that is due to wet and slippery surfaces, but a large portion occur when stepping in/out of the bathtub. Converting your standard bathtub to a shower unit can greatly reduce the risk of falling.
We offer two different ways to convert your bath space into a more accessible shower. One is a quick and easy “cut away” system where our crew literally cuts out a large notch in the side of your existing tub and repairs the surfaces so that it creates an attractive finished cut-away surface. The second option involves a bit more work in that our crew completely removes your existing bathtub and surround and installs a shower pan and new surround walls. This work is a bit more involved but still can generally be completed in one to two days, creating very little inconvenience for the customer.
Most older adults don’t use the “bath” feature of their bathtub anyway, and converting to a more accessible shower creates greater safety and convenience.
